Cast vs. Forged: Know your limits. Cast pistons are brittle compared to the 2618 alloy used in our Icon and Cosworth forged pistons. They cannot tolerate detonation or massive boost spikes. We strictly limit these pistons to 500kW (approx. 650hp). If you plan to push beyond this or use aggressive anti-lag, launch control or limiters, do not cheap out—upgrade to our Atomic Icon Forged series.
The Atomic Solution
Hypatec pistons are manufactured from high-silicon HyperTec cast alloy, which resists thermal expansion for tight, quiet clearances. They feature factory-style 12cc dish for standard compression ratios and come with Teflon-coated skirts to reduce friction and cylinder wall wear. Paired with premium Hastings rings, they are a significant step up from a standard white-box replacement.

2. Value Without Compromise
We selected these pistons because they offer genuine upgrades over the factory cast item without the price tag of a race piston.
Coated Skirts: Moly-based skirt coating provides a sacrificial layer during start-up and break-in, reducing piston slap and scuffing.
Floating Pins: Includes heavy-duty floating wrist pins for reduced friction and easier assembly (no press-fit required).
Hastings Rings: We supply every set with genuine Hastings piston rings, ensuring a rapid seal and long service life.
Power Ceiling: These are CAST pistons. They are not forgiving. Detonation (pinging, knocking etc.) or lean mixtures will crack ring lands quickly. Do not use for high-boost racing applications.
Ring Gaps: Even for cast pistons, ring gaps MUST be checked and filed if necessary to suit your specific application (NA vs Turbo). Insufficient gap will shatter the piston.
Upgrade Path: If you are planning for E85, transbrakes, or >650hp in the future, save your money and buy the Atomic Icon Forged set now. It is cheaper than rebuilding your engine twice.
