The Strongest Rod You Can Buy
When you are building a 2000hp monster, standard rods just don't cut it. The Atomic "FatRod" is engineered for extreme duty, designed to survive 9 tons of combustion pressure 60 times every second. These aren't just "tough"—they are the most advanced connecting rods ever developed for the Ford 6-cylinder platform.
Massive Beams = Massive Strength. The FatRod features a beam that is 13% wider and 14% thicker than standard billet rods. Combined with aerospace-grade steel and advanced FEA simulation, this extra mass allows the rod to absorb over 8000g's of reversal force at TDC without stretching or failing.
The Atomic Solution
We built the FatRod to be the last rod you will ever need. Rated for 1500–2000+hp, it features our signature H-beam design for superior strength-to-mass ratio and comes standard with CA625 High-Tensile Bolts. Trusted in engines running over 1130RWKW, we have recorded zero failures since its release in 2004.


2. Motorsport-Grade Oiling
Strength is nothing without reliability. We integrated advanced oiling features usually only achieved with separate oil squirters.
- Pressure-Fed Pin Oiling: A dedicated channel forces pressurized oil directly from the big end bearing, up through the rod and into the wrist pin bushing, significantly extending pin life under high load and RPM.
- Piston Crown Cooling: Built-in oil squirters spread oil out across the underside of the piston crown, pulling heat out of the combustion chamber to help resist detonation and thermal stress.
- Thermal Management: Keeps the rod and piston cool, preventing heat-related fatigue failure during extended high-power runs.

⚠️ Engineering Note
- Final Sizing Required: The small end bushings are supplied finished at .866" for 0.0005" pin clearance. This allows your engine builder to hone them to the perfect clearance for your specific gudgeon pin (Metric 22mm vs Imperial .866").
- Big End Bore: Finished to 2.2394".
- Pin Compatibility: Compatible with all major piston brands including Cosworth, Mahle, and JE. Supports .927" Chev-size wrist pins for custom pistons.
