When you are building a dedicated high-RPM race engine, the standard Barra geometry becomes a limitation. The Atomic "Destroker" FatRod is designed specifically for our 86mm Stroke (3.5L) Crankshaft. At 161.29mm (6.350") long, this rod significantly improves the rod-to-stroke ratio compared to the factory setup.

Rod Ratio determines piston speed. The factory Barra has a relatively low rod ratio of 1.54 (153mm rod / 99.3mm stroke), which limits safe RPM. This Destroker kit increases the rod length to 161.29mm and reduces stroke to 86mm, yielding a near-perfect race ratio of 1.87. This geometry drastically reduces side loading and peak piston acceleration, allowing the engine to rev higher safely with only a minor ~500rpm shift in the torque curve.
The Atomic Solution
Built on our legendary "FatRod" architecture, these rods feature the same 13% wider H-beam profile and aerospace billet steel construction that has resulted in zero failures since 2004. They come standard with CA625 High-Tensile Bolts for ultimate clamping force and feature our signature pressure-fed pin oiling to keep wrist pins alive at 9000+ RPM.
High RPM kills wrist pins. We engineered specific oil pathways to keep your rotating assembly alive where others fail.
Pressure-Fed Pin Oiling: A dedicated channel forces pressurized oil directly into the wrist pin bushing, critical for the high inertial loads of a de-stroked engine.
Piston Crown Cooling: Built-in oil squirters spray the underside of the piston crown, pulling heat out of the combustion chamber to resist detonation.
CA625 Fasteners: Every set comes pre-fitted with CA625 bolts, offering superior clamping force for extreme RPM stability.

⚠️ Engineering Note
Not for Standard Cranks: These rods are too long for a standard 99.3mm stroke crank. They MUST be used with an 86mm stroke crank and custom pistons with appropriate compression height.
Custom Pistons Required: Due to the changed rod length and stroke, you will require custom pistons to achieve the correct deck height and compression ratio.
Final Sizing: Small end bushings are supplied unfinished to allow honing for perfect pin clearance.
