Atomic Ready 2 Boost Kit #2Ford Barra DOHC 4.0L
Part No. 306505-K2 | The Ultimate Stock Turbo Insurance Package
Extract Max Power with Confidence
The Ford Barra 4.0L DOHC is legendary for its power-handling capabilities, but pushing the stock XR6 turbo to its limits introduces immediate mechanical vulnerabilities. As you crank up the boost, factory components like valve springs, head bolts, and sintered oil pump gears become critical failure points.
The Atomic Ready 2 Boost Kit #2 is our engineered response. This package bundles only the absolute most crucial upgrades required to safely extract maximum horsepower from your stock-turbo setup, without forcing you into an expensive and labor-intensive bottom-end rebuild.
Upgraded springs strain the timing system. Upgrading to our 306800 heavy-duty valve springs increases valvetrain resistance, adding up to a ~40% load increase on the timing chain. That is why this kit includes our Heavy-Duty Timing Chain (306620). We resolve the harmonic strain at the source, ensuring absolute timing stability under high boost.
By protecting your cylinder head against lift with H13 tool steel, eliminating valve float, and safeguarding your oiling system with nitrided billet pump gears, this package is the smartest, most cost-effective insurance policy you can buy for your Barra.

Inside the 306505-K2 Bundle
We have selected every item in this kit to address specific weaknesses when boost pressure exceeds factory thresholds.
H13 Tool Steel Headstuds
Featuring 270,000+ psi tensile strength (matching CA625+ at a third of the cost). Threads are cold-rolled, heat-treated, and feature external 8mm hex tips for perfect torque tension and zero head-lift.

Oil Pump Rebuild Kit
Replaces brittle sintered factory gears with Gas-Nitrided 4340 billet steel gears and a rigid Chromoly backing plate. Zero flex and high shock resistance during hard limiter hits.

H/D Valve Springs
Individually bench-tested, precision-matched sets (+/- 1lb tolerance) utilising advanced wire technology. Eliminates high-boost valve float and keeps your valvetrain stable.

Heavy Duty Timing Chain
Delivers nearly twice the tensile strength of factory links. Designed to easily handle the elevated valvetrain loads introduced by heavy race-spec valve springs. Smoother, cleaner links for reduced wear and noise.

⚠️ The "No-Machine-Shop" Advantage
Most engine rebuilds or high-power upgrades demand thousands of dollars in machining costs. The Ready 2 Boost Kit is specifically packaged to be a 100% DIY/Bolt-On affair, requiring absolutely zero machine shop intervention.
- No Cylinder Head Removal Required: With the use of our optional On-Car Valve Spring Tool (100704), you can swap the heavy-duty 306800 valve springs while keeping the cylinder head securely bolted down on the block! No new head gasket, deck skim, or head bolts required.
- Direct-Fit Fasteners: The 12mm H13 headstuds (306651) drop directly into the standard block threads. No drilling, no reaming, and no block O-ringing necessary. Hex tip for easy installation with the motor in the car!
- Drop-In Rebuild Internals: The oil pump gears (306750-K) and Chromoly plate drop directly into your standard factory pump housing. No line honing, and no housing machining required (housing wear must be verified and housing THOROUGHLY CLEANED in the relief valve area).
- Harmonic Protection: The high-tensile 306681-HP Billet Crank Bolt locks the balancer down securely, eliminating the risk of the balancer backing out under high boost harmonics and RPM.
Critical Installation & Setup Guidelines
🔧 Headstud & Fastener Prep
To ensure perfect, even clamping pressure without risking false torque readings, please follow the guidelines carefully:
- Lubrication: You MUST use the supplied moly-based assembly lubricant on all threads (except headstud bottom/block thread), nuts, and washers. Never use engine oil for final torque values.
- Washer Orientation: Ensure the chamfered side of the heavy-duty washer faces UP towards the nut.
- Thread Cleaning: Thoroughly chase (if possible) and clean the block threads before inserting the H13 studs. Block threads should remain dry and free of lube/oil.
🏁 Oiling & Timing Prep
Correct assembly of the oil pump rebuild is crucial to prevent instant wear upon the first startup:
- Oil Pump Priming: Fill the new nitrided gears with oil or assembly lube prior to bolting on the CRMO plate. Dry starts kill oil pumps. We recommend cranking the engine with the crank angle sensor or injectors unplugged until you see oil pressure. If you do not get oil pressure within 30s of cranking, attempt to back fill the oil pump by pouring oil down the turbo oil feed line. You may need to manually turn the engine backwards by the crank bolt to suck the oil down the hose and fill the gears. Ensure crank bolt has not loosened and then try cranking again.
- Oil Gallery Cleanliness: Ensure the factory housing is surgically clean before dropping in the new gears. Any trapped debris will score the housing walls and lead to the relief valve jamming open causing complete loss of oil pressure!!!
- Seal Replacement: Always fit the supplied fresh rocker cover gasket (306049), spark plug tube seals (306033), and Viton balancer seal (306046).
Stop Guessing. Start Boosting.
