The Problem

The factory VCT system was designed to cope with much less valvetrain load than high performance engines produce as their focus was on minimising rotational power loss and maximising fuel efficiency. When upgrading valve springs, increasing lift and modifying other engine components, the valvetrain load increases beyond where the factory VCT system can maintain stable, timely control of the camshaft timing. This loss of control could lead to piston to valve contact in the worst case but generally manifests as DTC codes, check engine lights or timing system rattle. 

The Atomic Solution

Atomic Vernier Sprockets are the ultimate fixed-timing solution. Designed to completely replace the failure-prone VCT system, they utilize 12.9 grade high tensile bolts and our custom billet Belleville Washer system to lock your timing in place securely, eliminating the risk of bolt loosening under high-RPM harmonics.

We designed these gears to be robust enough for 1500hp+ drag cars while remaining precise enough for street tuning.

• Precision Machining: Features a chamfered gear teeth profile to significantly reduce noise, wear, and vibration.
• Stepped ID Design: Internal diameters are stepped to ensure perfect concentricity, preventing gear misalignment.
• Large Adjustment Range: Enough range to cover all engine setups and powerband goals.
• VCT Elimination: These are NOT VCT compatible. They are designed to delete the system entirely for maximum reliability.
