Factory valve springs are designed for standard RPM and low boost. As you increase power, valve float becomes the enemy. But simply installing "stiffer" springs isn't enough—if those springs vary in pressure, they create uneven harmonics that can destroy your engine.
💡 DID YOU KNOW?
Unequal spring pressure kills timing systems. Just like mismatched injectors cause rough idle, mismatched springs cause "jerky" resistance on the camshaft. This uneven load whips straight down the timing chain, in some cases timed badly enough that it snaps guides and stretches chains. That's why Atomic springs are bench tested and matched to +/- 1lb.
The Atomic Solution
We treat valve springs like precision instruments. Every single Atomic spring is individually bench-tested and grouped into matched sets. Using advanced Ovate Wire technology*, we can achieve higher lift and pressure in a smaller package, ensuring your valvetrain remains stable from idle to 8000+ RPM.
Matched sets ensure even loading across the entire valvetrain.
Choose Your Stage
Select the correct spring pressure for your boost and RPM goals.
Stage 1
Pressure: 80-90lbs
Max Boost: 20psi max
Stage 2
Pressure: 90-100lbs
Max Boost: 25psi max
*Ovate Wire
Stage 3 (Most popular)
Pressure: 100-110lbs
Max Boost: 35psi max
*Ovate Wire
Stage 4
Pressure: ~125lbs
Max Boost: 35+ psi
*Ovate Wire
Stage 5
Pressure: ~145lbs
Max Boost: 35+ psi
*Ovate Wire
*Stage 1 springs do not utilize ovate wire technology.
Tech Specs
Material: High-Tensile Wire (Ovate on Stage 2-5) Matching Tolerance: +/- 1lb (Bench Tested) Compatibility: Works with Factory, Titanium, or Chromoly Retainers Application: Ford Barra DOHC 4.0L (BA-FGX)
⚠️ Installation Notes
Check Installed Height: Always verify installed height during assembly to ensure correct seat pressure.
Lifter Preload: High-pressure springs (Stage 3+) may require checking lifter bleed-down rates or preload adjustments.
Timing Chain Load: Upgrading valve springs increases the load on your timing chain by up to 40%. We strongly recommend installing an Atomic Heavy Duty Timing Chain Kit alongside these springs to prevent failure.
